How It All Began

It all started back in 2015 when I decided to take my very first solo road trip beyond the borders of my own country.

It sounds wild now, but just a year before that, I had taken my very first trip abroad. It was to Turkey – classic all-inclusive package deal, exactly how most people from the post-Soviet states start traveling abroad. I loved it, even though everything was so new and unfamiliar.

I wasn’t born in Europe, where borders between countries have almost disappeared. My English was far from perfect, but this long-held dream of going somewhere far away just wouldn’t leave me alone.

Finally, I had a plan. We were heading from Yekaterinburg to Georgia and then on to Turkey. In total: 19 days, around 6,500 kilometers.

That trip was both amazing and life-changing. It only fueled my desire to keep exploring the world by car – both in my own country and beyond.
